Industry Experts Gather for TRIREME Workshop on Future Skills in Cybersecurity and Functional Safety

On 18 February 2026, TRIREME and SOQRATES welcomed 28 participants from across Europe to a dynamic hybrid workshop in Graz, Austria, dedicated to shaping the future of Cybersecurity and Functional Safety skills in the automotive sector.
Hosted at the ISCN office in Graz and online via Teams, the event brought together automotive engineers, managers, trainers, and experts from OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, SMEs, universities, and VET providers representing 10 countries: Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Hungary, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, and Latvia.

The workshop opened with a welcome session and TRIREME project update delivered by Dr. Richard Messnarz (ISCN), offering participants an overview of the project’s latest achievements and next steps.
A key highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of the Skills Hub by Dr. Svatopluk Stolfa from VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, demonstrating how the platform supports skills development and lifelong learning in advanced mobility domains.

Participants were then guided through the registration and onboarding process for the Learning Platform, followed by an engaging training teaser for the Innovation Agent – ISO 56006 Green Mobility. This hands-on session gave attendees a first insight into the practical value of the programme and its relevance for innovation-driven organisations.

The agenda continued with a short presentation of the Automotive SPICE 4.0 training, presented by Damjan Ekert (ISCN), highlighting additional upskilling opportunities available through the TRIREME ecosystem.

A particularly valuable part of the event was the moderated discussion on emerging trends and required updates in Functional Safety and Cybersecurity training. Industry representatives shared their perspectives on current challenges, future competence requirements, and evolving market expectations. The feedback collected during this session will directly contribute to the further enhancement of TRIREME’s Skill Cards, learning content, and course portfolio.

The workshop concluded with final remarks and a strong sense of shared commitment to strengthening Europe’s automotive skills landscape. This event once again demonstrated TRIREME’s role as a collaborative platform where industry, academia, and training providers work together to build future-ready competences for the green and digital transition.
