European Automotive Regions Discuss Transformative Challenges
The Automotive Skills Alliance (ASA) Regional Implementation Working Group held its regular meeting on 7 July 2025 to strengthen collaboration among European automotive regions. The session offered participants a platform to exchange knowledge and share updates on recent and ongoing initiatives, including the TRIREME project, the Automotive Regional Alliance (ARA) meeting in Strasbourg, the publication of the Regional Pact for Skills, and the involvement of ASA and ARA in the upcoming European Week of Regions and Cities in October.
This meeting featured a dedicated TRIREME workshop. The interactive session included a brief introduction to the TRIREME project and activities, an overview of the competence matrix, and a live discussion focused on gathering insights about the main transformative challenges currently facing the automotive and mobility sectors in Europe. Participants represented a diverse range of EU regions, such as Castilla y León (ES), Stuttgart (DE), Lombardia (IT), Grand-Est (FR), and Catalonia (ES), highlighting the project’s strong regional dimension.
Through real-time surveys, participants shared valuable reflections on the evolving landscape. Key points raised included the importance of recognising soft skills alongside technical and digital competences, the shift towards new mobility paradigms, the balance between innovation and regulatory frameworks, and the growing significance of data-driven, service-oriented business models.
This close connection between the ASA Working Group and the TRIREME project ensures that European regions remain up to date with project progress and can bring TRIREME activities to life at the regional level.
